Cultural walks in the historical centre of Rimini
Visit the hidden treasures of Rimini and spend a few hours on a pleasant guided cultural walk to discover places, monuments and works of art. The initiative is open to tourists and citizens alike, but can also be an original alternative for your guests in their free time, or organised as a private tour to be inserted into the programme of events.
Here is the December programme:
Saturday 10 December, NEOCLASSICAL RIMINI
The guided tour starts from St. Augustine's Church where you can admire a piece by renowned Neoclassical sculptor, Pietro Tenerani, continues with a visit to some important buildings in Borgo San Giovanni, and concludes in Palazzo Ghetti, a work of art by Giovanni Benedettini. An old match factory and residence of Nicola Ghetti, the building was restored to its former glory under the aegis of Banca Malatestiana, who owns the property and to whom we are grateful for sharing it with the public.
NEW YEAR'S CELEBRATIONS
Friday 30 December, BAROQUE RIMINI
A trail that leads from the museum to a city in search of scientists, architects and scholars.
The tour begins in the Hall of Portraits in the City Museum, introducing interesting characters from the Eighteenth Century who were born in Rimini, such as medical scientist Jano Planco, poet Aurelio de Giorgi Bertola, and architect Giovan Francesco Buonamici, responsible for civic buildings such as the old Fish Market and the Clock Tower, as well as religious buildings such as the splendid Church of San Bernardino, which will be visited during the tour.

Saturday 31 December RIMINI REVEALED
A cultural walk from the city centre to Rimini's seafront and Fellini influence.
A trip down memory lane to discover the various eras and dual personality of the city, with a visit to symbolic monuments: the Arch of Augustus, the Malatesta Temple, Tiberius Bridge and the Grand Hotel, which recalls Rimini's most illustrious citizen, the director Federico Fellini.
Meeting point: Arch of Augustus, 3.30pm; cost: €8 per person
Sunday 1 January RIMINI REVEALED
A cultural walk among Roman and Renaissance treasures
In the heart of the historic centre are some monuments that simply must be visited: the Malatesta Temple, a splendid example of Italian Renaissance art, the Arch of Augustus, the ancient gateway to the Roman city, the Surgeon's House, where a successful Roman physician lived and worked in the III century D.C., the modern Visitor Center and the wonderful Tiberius Bridge.
Meeting point: Malatesta Temple, 3.45pm; cost €8 per person.
The walks are organised by art historian, Michela Cesarini, specialised in art narration and the history of the local Rimini area.
